This place is great! It has something for everyone. It's an old barn converted into a three story gift shop, camping supply store, and some outdoor winter clothing. You have to go through the shop to see everything. Currently they offer cross country ski rentals, camping gear rentals, bike rentals and kayak rentals. Staff was super friendly and helpful!

I placed an order for a spray skirt for my kayak online, and realized I messed up and ordered the wrong size. Called and spoke with Max who was extremely helpful, able to find and cancel my order, and even recommended how I could find the right size spray skirt for my boat. Was like talking to a buddy I've known for years. Amazing company, and I will absolutely be looking to them when I need other accessories.

What a gem! We had an incredible experience at Big Bear Gear. Went in with the plan to rent a kayak but didn't think about the transportation piece. No biggy! We were offered bike riding as an alternate activity and were so happy that the day took that turn. Beautiful views riding through the D&R path, surrounded by the river and the canal. Bikes rode great and we wished that we could ride all day long. Went back to return the bikes and the store is just amazing. We got a ton of goodies, including new dresses and shoes, books and toys for our daughter... The employees were delightful, helpful and great to chat with. Can't wait to return with our daughter!

We rented two electric pedal assist bikes. We had them for 2 hrs. We were able to make it down the tow path to Washington Crossing park and back in about 1.5 hrs. It was about 11 miles total. If we had regular pedal bikes, we wouldn’t have been able to go that far. The attendant at the bike shop was helpful and suggested that route to us. We had to walk the bikes across a bridge to get to the park. It was pretty neat. I would use this outfitter again.
